The thing I like best about **The Holidays**, other than the time off, is the horribly excellent decor. I say we just have a holiday where people go nuts adding tons of flare to their homes, vehicles, and person without all the extra religion, obligation, or stress. The reason for the holiday could be more abstract and the narratives behind the way people choose to decorate can be more personal than based around old traditions and symbolism few actually get or glean personal meaning from. That's the kind of holiday I can get behind.

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there is something much more entertaining about the way all of this collectively understood iconography is altered and used.
